Lowville,
New
York, serenely settled along the banks of the
Mill Creek River, is home to nearly 3,500
citizens, (Census 2000 data). Lowville serves as the
seat of Lewis
County, NY. The village was named for Nicholas
Low, an early landowner.

Dairy
is Lowville's primary industry. As home to one of the
largest milk sheds in the northeast, Lowville produces
the majority of milk in New York, and is responsible
for processing 65% of Lewis
County's milk production. Kraft
Foods, the biggest private employer in Lowville,
operates a manufacturing facility that specializes in
cream cheese.
Lowville's
location halfway between the New
York State Thruway and the St.
Lawrence River provides potential businesses an
area that is ripe for development. In addition,
Lowville has access to seven of the top ten U.S.
markets, via the Thruway and Interstate
