Chase
Mills, New
York, in scenic St.
Lawrence County, is in the northernmost part of
the state. Six miles south of Highway 37, and well off
the beaten path, Chase Mills has classic small-town
ambiance. Chase Mills lies thirteen miles southwest of
the bustling town of Massena,
NY. Overlooking the great St. Lawrence River, Massena
is one of the fastest-growing commercial and
industrial centers in the county. The city of Ogdensburg,
also on the St.
Lawrence River, is only twenty-seven miles away.

Chase
Mills is a small town (population slightly over 700)
with a handful of businesses and one post office. The
National Historic Register lists the beautiful Chase
Mills Inn (historic significance: 1850-1874) as a
thriving business today.
Winters
can be brisk here, with an average temperature of 22,
but summers average a comfortable 72 degrees.
Precipitation in the region ranges from 36 to 40
inches of rain and snowmelt.
For
recreation, Coles
Creek State Park, less than ten miles away, has
wooded and open campsites near a swimming beach on Lake
St. Lawrence. The lake is grat for boating and
fishing as well. A marina at the mouth of Coles Creek
is just north of the park entrance and offers boat
rentals. The park also has a playground, playing
fields and a large pavilion. The St. Lawrence River is
home to bass, pike, walleye, perch, muskellunge and
other species. It offers spectacular fishing
opportunities from the shore or by boat. Many charter
services and guides are available on the river at Lake
Ontario and in the Thousand
Island area. The Iroquois called this area
"The Garden Place of the Great Spirit".
Chase
Mills is only seventy miles from Ottawa,
Canada's capital, a vibrant, colorful city that
welcomes all visitors. The region offers nightclubs,
fine dining, world-class shopping, thirty museums and
over fifty art galleries and theaters.
